Slippers to Make Your Feet Sing Hosted by Sun Valley Needle Arts Sun Valley Needle Arts - 351 Leadville Avenue North in Ketchum, Upstairs at the Galleria 5:45-8:45 p.m. Come join us for a fun filled night of knitting as you learn to make these warm and cozy knitted and felted slippers by long time knitting instructor Kim Cohen. You will have the opportunity to knit a pair of women's or men's slippers to get you ready for the season's cooler weather.
You can bring your own 100% wool yarn in Bulky or Worsted Weight with a length of 800 yards or you can purchase your yarn through Sun Valley Needle Art's or luxurious and soft Alpaca yarn from your instructor. **Please Note that Acrylic yarns cannot be used for this project.

Colors to Dye For with Lonna Alexander-Steele 9:00 am - 12:00 College of Southern Idaho Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey If you have always wanted to get great color in your projects, this is the class for you. Lonna brings with her, a wealth of knowledge and expertise and will soon have you exploring dyeing like the pros. Students with use acid dyes to produce a variety of graduated color, variegated color, rainbow dyed and spotted yarns. Tons of fun and lots of hand on time in the dye kitchen! Moebius Scarf with Donna Welch 9:00 am - 12:00 College of Southern Idaho Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey The Moebius Scarf class is a truly magical experience! You won't believe the fantastic results as you take home this simple yet elegant scarf. Perfect for the holidays! The workshop will teach you how to do the odd cast-on along with the simple knitting techniques to create this beautiful scarf. This is a quick weekend project and, once you learn the technique, you can create these beautiful scarves on your own.

Spinning Wheel Care & Adjustment with Joan Holloway 9:00 am - 10:30 College of Southern Idaho Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey Be the super mechanic of your spinning wheel as you learn to get the most out of your spinning wheel for superb performance. In this class you will learn how to oil, care for, and adjust your wheel to get it in tip top condition.

Angora Rabbit Fiber with Keren Brown 1:00 - 4:00 pm College of Southern Idaho Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey Spinners will love this Angora rabbit class. Students will learn to make beautiful and artistic yarns in many weights using their spinning wheels. Keren will cover many methods of spinning angora fiber as well as it's natural fleece colors, wool prep and dyeing of this specialty fiber. She will cover art and craft uses and brings lots of fun and knowledge to her class.

A Tale of Two Yarns with Colleen Jennings 1:00 - 4:00 pm College of Southern Idaho Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey Have you ever wanted to spin Thick and thin wool or wild and wooly tailspun mohair to accent your woven or knitted projects? This is the class for you. You will learn to spin for thick and thin wool yarn and spinning clouds and locks of mohair in a tailspun technique.

Needle Felting with Nancy Liebrecht 1:00 - 4:00 pm College of Southern Idaho Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey Create sculptures and embellish flat surfaces as you use fiber to create art. You will learn basic techniques by making a small 3-dimensional object and a decorative hot-pad.

Soap Making Made Simple with J'aime Sisson 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon National Guard Armory, 311 W. Cedar St in Hailey, Across the street from the Festival Grounds to the North Let's have some good, CLEAN fun! Learn how to make Melt and Pour soap and Cold Process soap. We will be using additives such as sheep's milk, tallow, and lanolin to make an excellent, emollient bar of soap. There will be lots of fragrances to choose from and you will be taking home the soap that you make.

Basic Spinning 101 with Joan Holloway 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m Come and learn the steps of wool preparation: washing, hand carding, and spinning wool into a yarn on a drop spindle. Each student will receive a supply of wool and all parts necessary to build a CD drop spindle. Additionally, a printed hand out containing directions for carding and spinning on a drop spindle will be available to take home. Each student will receive instructions on the use of the equipment to successfully make a hand spun yarn.

WOOL SHOW! This year generous sponsors are helping us bring expert wool judges from the Montana Wool Lab and they will have the OFDA micron testing equipment where you can have your fleeces tested. It all happens on Saturday, October 8th at the Folklife Fair. Don't miss it!

Family Activities at the Kids Korner - No Pre-Registration Required!!!! Just show up and enjoy. Bring your children so they can explore fiber arts at their own level. **Parents of children 7 and under are asked to stay with their children during the scheduled classes.
Star Weaving with Debi Dehoney Bold,colorful and lots of fun! Come and enjoy this primitive form of starweaving, reminiscent of a dream catcher. The Ojo de Dios or Gods eyeis a simple project for those budding fiber enthusiasts.

Weaving the Rainbow with Priscilla Sisson Bring the kids and join us for this memorable class! Jerome Native and child advocate Holly Holbrook will start this lovely class by reading thechildren's book, "Weaving the Rainbow" written by George Ella Lyons. Then the sky is the limit as we take to nature creating the children's own Branch Loom.

Come find out what it's all about as you dive in and go hands on. Explore Simple Spinning with Joan Holloway You don't need a wheel to spin! In different places all over the world,prehistoric people discovered how to spin by experimenting with techniques and tools to twist raw fibers. We'll play with wool,twisting and spinning as we go back in time.

Painting without a Brush with Nancy Liebrecht Bet you didn't know you could paint a picture without a brush. In this elementary stitchery class, your child will call the shots as they put their imagination to the test. With a few simple tools and a little patience, art will transform the canvas.
